New Edinburgh Account Manager appointed. We are delighted to announce that one of our highly experienced service team, Stevie McNeill, has been appointed as our new Account Manager in Edinburgh.
Since joining the company as a service technician 2 years ago, Stevie has impressed with his ultra-professional approach, and is looking to use his knowledge of pretty much every business in the Edinburgh area to succeed as part of our fantastic accounts team.
In his 20 years working in the industry, first with Rentokil and then with ourselves, Stevie has established himself as somewhat of a household name among businesses and homeowners in Edinburgh, with an impressive portfolio of satisfied clients.
In his new role, Stevie will be responsible for managing a number of our largest accounts as well as adding further companies to our ever-growing client list.
Here at Pest Solutions, we pride ourselves on providing opportunities for growth and career progression for all our staff and having seen at first hand just how knowledgeable and passionate Stevie is about pest management we have no doubt he will be highly successful in his new role.
Stevie can’t wait to get started in his new role and has already started making big plans to make waves in his old stomping ground.
As new New Edinburgh Account Manager “I’m ready to jump in and start taking over Edinburgh. Of course, I’m ready to get a few knock backs but you expect that in this job.”
At Pest Solutions, we know that the more support we give to our fantastic team of service technicians, the better prepared they will be when attending each job, and the better chance they have of being able to eradicate pest problems quickly.
We are a company that has built its success on our fantastic customer service and excellent results, and great communication between our sales and service team is the key to continued growth.
We could easily bring in salespeople from outside the pest control industry who are experts in securing business for the company, but their lack of knowledge about the pest management industry would leave our technicians in the dark about what to expect when attending the job.
By investing instead in people like Stevie who has spent over 20 years working in pest control and knows as much as anyone about pest behaviour, and common identifying signs, and will be able to identify the pest species a client in dealing with accuracy and speed when surveying a site, meaning we will be in a much better position to achieve control when one of our service technicians attend each job.
Stevie himself points out that having a lack of information about the job they are about to attend is a major bug bear among pest technicians.
“The biggest pet hate of technicians is going to a job with only vague details, being told that there are droppings that ‘could’ be mouse droppings for example. Because of my experience, I will be able to get a mental picture of the job and give the technician attending plenty of accurate information.”
Stevie also admitted that his background as a technician was a major driving factor behind him applying for the job and that he would feel a bit daunted going in without his wealth of experience in the industry.
As the new Edinburgh Account Manager Stevie will play a crucial role in building and maintaining working relationships with clients across the Edinburgh area and given that he has worked with many of the same companies for well over a decade now, this is clearly something he knows how to do with tremendous success.
Pest Solutions has always been built on the skills and knowledge of our staff both in the field and when communicating with customers over the phone.
Pest management is a unique industry due to the fact that we are often dealing with customers in highly emotional and upsetting circumstances.
Discovering a pest infestation in your home or business can be traumatic and panic is an understandable reaction.
As a business, when you deal with a local pest control firm, you want a calm and reassuring response from someone who clearly understands the issues you are facing and explains in clear terms the route towards resolving the issue.
In terms of commercial pest control, it is no exaggeration to state that avoiding pest control issues can have a major impact on the success of a company, with any issues, especially those spotted by a customer, having a major impact on their reputation within the local community.
The key to building successful relationships with business owners is in demonstrating that you are the ones that will prevent pest issues arising in the first place and will provide a rapid, discreet, and highly effective eradication service if required.
We know that our fantastic service team will achieve all this and more for all our clients and we need the right sales team in place that can effectively communicate this to potential new clients.
Having someone like Stevie in this role of Edinburgh Account Manager, who has provided pest management to companies large and small across Edinburgh for two decades really is invaluable in this regard as not only does Stevie have an almost encyclopedic knowledge of common pests in the area, but can also use his raft of prior experience to reassure clients that there is a tried and tested path to a pest free property.
Hiring someone with experience in the industry also means that there will be no settling in period whilst a new addition to the team learns how we operate as a company and the finer details of the pest control industry.
We know Stevie and Stevie knows us and that will allow him to hit the ground running in this new role, something we are confident that our Edinburgh customers will appreciate.
This is far from the first time that we have found the perfect candidate for an open position from within our own ranks.
As much as we love to see our staff succeed, at the end of the day we will only ever choose the person that we feel is best suited to the role as the future of the company and the service we provide to our valued customers must always come first.
It just happens that the extensive training opportunities we provide to all our staff and the incredibly varied experience that they get working for our numerous different clients means that this person is often already part of the team.
In Stevie’s case, having established working relationships with the service team he will now have a role in managing is also a huge advantage. They are aware of just how knowledgeable he is, and will attend each job with the confidence that the information that they have been given is accurate and useful.
Vice versa, Stevie will now be working alongside colleagues he has worked under in the past and has an existing understanding with. Danielle Ellis, one of our top surveyors who Stevie worked under during his time as a technician, for example, will be in the perfect position to give Stevie any advice or support he needs in his new role dealing with the accounts of clients across the Edinburgh area.
There are a multitude of reasons why it can often be beneficial for pest control companies to promote from within, with established relationships being just one.
The interview process, references, and past experience can tell you a lot about the suitability of someone for a certain role, but getting to know them as a person is just as important.
By working with our staff, we get an in-depth understanding of their strengths and weaknesses and over time get a good idea of whether they would be suited to a role within management or other areas of the business.
Anyone who has spoken to Stevie for any length of time, especially those who have had the pleasure of working alongside him will be left in no doubt whatsoever about his suitability for this exciting new role.
We look forward to seeing many more of our staff succeeding in the years to come both in their existing roles and by progressing their careers at the company.
We believe that as our staff grow their own skills our company grows with them, and this is an ethos that has seen us almost double in size in recent years.
All the best to Stevie in his new role of our new Edinburgh Account Manager, we can’t wait to see what he can do!
