Merry Christmas from Pest Solutions! 2024 Round Up
The Pest Solutions team would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year when it comes!
We hope you all have a fantastic festive period and enjoy a well-earned break with those who matter the most (and a few glasses of bubbly!).
Unfortunately, the ‘holiday’ season isn’t a concept that pest species tend to respect, and we will be continuing to provide the highest standard of BPCA approved pest control services throughout the Christmas and New Year period.
Fingers crossed, your family and friends will be the only house ‘guests’ you have over Christmas and New Year, but if any pests do invite themselves to the party, we will be here to help when you need us most.
2024 has flown by here at Pest Solutions, with another year of record-breaking growth for the company as we continue to expand our local pest control branches throughout the UK.
As a business, we have built our success on looking to the future, but at this time of year it is always nice to take a moment to reflect and recognise the incredible achievements of our industry leading team of professionals.
Just some of our key moments from 2024 include:
It was a very strong start to the year in 2024 with Pest Solution’s Gemma Sutherland (Service Manager/Graduate Advanced Technician) and Iain Rodgers (Team Leader and a Field Biologist) winning big at the BPCA member awards in March.
Gemma Sutherland was named as 2024 BPCA Commitment to CPD Award Winner for her exceptional commitment to CPD eligible training and events, whilst Iain Rodgers won the 2024 BPCA Leadership Award for his outstanding management of a 30 strong team of pest technicians.
Siobhan Quinn was also named as a finalist in the 2024 BPCA Spotlight award category for her fantastic work behind the scenes (overseeing a huge rise in domestic job conversion rate from 43% to 76%), whilst Pest Solutions were named as finalists in the 2024 BPCA Business Growth Award.
Our very own Gemma Sutherland (Service Manager/Graduate Advanced Technician) and Iain Mackinnon (Advanced Service Technician) made their first steps into TV stardom this year, featuring on a BBC news segment investigating the rising number of rats in the City of Glasgow.
Gemma and Iain were fantastic representatives of Pest Solutions and did an excellent job highlighting the relationship between human activity and rat populations, with a particular focus on the disturbing amount of litter and rubbish found on the streets of our towns and cities.
Having highlighted the impact of litter on pest activity on BBC news and BBC Radio Scotland, we decided that ‘Enough is Enough’ this year and decided to launch our very own nationwide anti-littering campaign.
Frustrated by the lack of action at local and national Government level in regards to the current litter crisis in the UK, we decided to take matters into our own hands in a big to raise awareness and encourage decision makers to take action.
Our first event in Glasgow City Centre was a huge success, with over 60 large bags of rubbish collected from the streets around our Seaward Street office and we will be holding similar events across the UK throughout 2025.
On a memorable night at Hilton London Bankside, pest controllers from across the UK came together to celebrate industry excellence from the past 12 months.
Nominated in 5 of the 10 prestigious award categories, Pest Solutions was strongly represented on the night with 8 members of our team jumping on the train from Edinburgh and heading down for a night of celebration.
It was certainly worth the trip as Pest Solutions were named as winners of the 2024 “Large Company of the Year” award and the 2024 “Pest Business of the Year” 2024 award, and we had a fantastic time celebrating the success of our fellow pest professionals from across the UK.
Perhaps the most important achievement we have made in 2024 is completely revolutionising our sustainability practices here at Pest Solutions, taking huge strides to reduce our carbon emissions.
Integral to this success was the appointment of Maisie Bullock as Net Zero and Sustainability coordinator in collaboration with the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce’s “Step up to Net Zero” programme. Maisie’s recommendations facilitated the creation of a future proof sustainability policy for the years ahead and prompted practical changes including a move to paperless reporting, strict vehicle checks, optimised route planning, and an investment in electric vehicles in our fleet.
We were incredibly honoured when this work was recognised at the prestigious Glasgow Business Awards as we picked up the Net Zero Achievement Award and were named as finalists in the “Inspiring Future Talent” category.
The success of Pest Solutions has always been built on the exceptional group of professionals that we have in our team, and we are incredibly proud of all their achievements over the past 12 months and beyond.
The recognition we have received is awesome, but it is the service we provide to our clients that is by far the most important thing and the exceptional knowledge and expertise of our pest controllers out in the field is fundamental to our reputation of being able to tackle ANY pest issue.
If you are facing any sort of issue involving insects, rodents, or pest birds, and would like the issue to be dealt with be a highly trained qualified team of BPCA pest controllers, don’t hesitate to get in touch today.
And finally, a very Merry Christmas to you all from the whole Pest Solutions team and a happy new year when it comes around!!!
