A massive Pest Solutions congratulations to our very own Gemma Sutherland and Iain Rodgers who were announced as award winners at the 2024 BPCA Member Awards, run by the British Pest Control Association.
Gemma Sutherland continued her industry award winning ways being declared the winner of the 2024 “BPCA Commitment To CPD” Award category, recognising the incredible effort she put into her training and personal development throughout 2023, whilst Iain Rodgers saw success as the winner of the 2024 “BPCA Leadership Award” category after another year of leading from the front and inspiring his team as he always does.
All the award winners were announced at PestEx 2024, the BCPA and UK Professional Pest Control Industry headline event, in front of hundreds of the UK’s leading pest control professionals, with Gemma and being declared winners in their categories in the face of some extremely stiff competition form a host of pest professional peers throughout the UK.
A big mention must go to Siobhan Quinn who was a finalist in the 2024 “BPCA Spotlight Award” and to the whole Pest Solutions team for their contributions to the company also being nominated as finalists in the 2024 BPCA “Commitment to Training Award” and Highly Commended in the 2024 BPCA “Growth Award” Categories.
A huge well done to all the other award winners and finalists and a big thankyou to the BPCA for putting on such a fantastic event! It is a great honour to be considered among the very best of the industry. This is all the more significant given the strength of the competition among the entries and finalists.
The Pest Solutions team were out in force at PestEx 2024, trying out some of the latest new pest control technologies, enjoying some great talks and seminars, and, of course, supporting their award nominated colleagues!
Over the years, many of our incredible team members have been recognised for their superb contributions to the professional pest control industry at the BPCA Member Awards, both as finalists and as winners, 2023 was no different.
The quality of candidates entering and being nominated for the annual BPCA Member Awards are truly exceptional and just being shortlisted as a finalist is an incredible achievement.
The fact that we have had multiple finalists for the last 4 years in a row now is testament to the consistent company culture of professionalism and high standards set by our team and 2023 was one of our best years yet as finalists in 5 of the 6 categories with nominated finalists.
We might be slightly biased, but we believe that the work each and every member of our team does on a daily basis deserves all the recognition in the world and are delighted to see some of our top performers over the past 12 months succeed at the 2023 BPCA Member Awards event.
In recognition of her exceptional commitment to CPD eligible training and events, Graduate Advanced Service Technician & Service Manager here at Pest Solutions, Gemma Sutherland was the deserved winner of the 2024 “BPCA Commitment To CPD” Award.
One of our star performers over the past few years, it is no coincidence that Gemma’s excellent work in the field is backed up by a fierce commitment to training and pursuit of knowledge.
Gemma is always seeking new ways to provide our customers with the best possible service and has set a fantastic example to the team since being appointed as Service Manager back in July 2023.
At Pest Solutions we have a culture of investing in continued personal development (CPD). We believe strongly that putting the best person we can in front of our customers results in customer service excellence. Every year, we ask our staff to obtain at least 40 CPD points (double the industry requirement) in order to ensure that we stay fully up to date with the latest scientific research and best practices.
However, many of our people decide to go well above and beyond this mark and in 2023, Gemma obtained a remarkable 156.5 points (156 hours of training). This number alone was impressive, but it was the quality of the training completed that put Gemma in a league of her own and saw her named as winner of this highly competitive award.
Our commitment to training is something that sets Pest Solutions apart from many of our competitors and it is no fluke that Gemma’s success made it 4 years in a row that we have been shortlisted as finalists in the BPCA Commitment to CPD Award.
Pest Solutions Kevin Pugh was a two times finalist, winning the BPCA Commitment to CPD Award in 2021. His desire to keep on learning has not faded since as he achieved 305 CPD points in 2023.
Team Leader, Iain Rodgers, winner of the 2023 BPCA Leadership Award was a finalist in 2022 and was Highly commended narrowly missing out to the worth winner. We are delighted to see Gemma Sutherland keep up the team culture of becoming the best, most knowledgeable pest professionals we can be with our ongoing commitment to CPD and learning.
A big well done to all the other finalists (Marcus Bell of Pest Force; Brian Downard of Multipest; Mike Little of Precision Pest Control, and Steven Wingrove of Absolute Pest Control). It really is great to see so many pest control professionals taking their training seriously!
At Pest Solutions we strongly believe any Pest Professional who takes their continued personal development seriously is already a winner and will have a great career in the industry.
As a Team Leader and a Field Biologist, Iain Rodgers is responsible for a team of over 30 pest technicians here at Pest Solutions, and has been a shining example of everything a leader should be since joining the company over 2 years ago.
Iain is a constant source of advice, support, and encouragement to his charges and has been fundamental in the growth of many of our new recruits in 2023. Anyone who works in Pest Control will know what an achievement it is that Iain is so universally admired by his colleagues, despite constantly pushing the team to become the very best pest Service Technicians and Biologists they can possibly be.
Iain Rodgers was named as 2022 Pest Solutions “Colleague of the Year” at our 2023 company awards, and runner-up in the same category in 2023, showing just what a popular figure he is at Pest Solutions, and everyone in the team is buzzing to see him get deserved recognition on a national level.
Iain never asks anyone to do anything he doesn’t do himself and has constantly led by example in terms of training, being nominated for the 2022 “BPCA Commitment to CPD” Award finishing Highly Commended.
Once again, Iain’s was up against some of the brightest and best leadership talent from across the UK pest control industry , and a special mention must go to fellow finalists Oliver Fitzgerald of Complete Pest Control Services and John Knight of Vergo.
Siobhan had a fantastic 2023 at Pest Solutions since joining just over a year ago and was rightfully named as finalist in the 2024 “BPCA Spotlight Award” category. This makes it 2 finalists in 3 years in this award for the Pest Solutions team with Siobhan following in the footsteps of Hayley Rafferty who was Highly Commended in 2021.
Since joining Pest Solutions, Siobhan has been a force to be reckoned with behind the scenes here at Pest Solutions, overseeing an exceptional rise in domestic job conversion rate from 43% to 76%.
The BPCA Spotlight Award is designed to shine a light on those who have been a huge contributor to the success of the team around them and who are always willing to go the extra mile for their customers and their colleagues.
A friendly voice at the end of ever incoming phone call and keeping right on top of reviews and surveys, Siobhan is fundamental to our outstanding customer service reputation and meets all the criteria for this award, and then some.
Winner of the 2023 “Pest Solutions Ambassador Award” at our company awards and nominated for the Customer Service Excellence Award at the 2022 & 2023 Lanarkshire Excellence Business Awards, there are undoubtedly plenty more awards coming Siobhan’s way in the future.
Whilst she just missed out this time around, being recognised as a finalist is huge achievement in itself.
Well done Siobhan, and congratulations to Saskia Robson-Davies of Hinton Pest Control for being the deserved winner of the 2023 BPCA Spotlight Award. Congratulations for making a real impact within your business and the professional pest control industry.
It’s always awesome when one of our team members is finalist of wins an award, but with so many incredible people working in our team, there are so many more just as deserving who just miss out.
That’s why it is so great to see the company as a whole receive recognition in categories such as the 2024 “BPCA Business Growth Award”.
Every single person here at Pest Solutions has played their part in the remarkable rise of a pest control company that had just 7 staff back in 2019 and it now one of the fastest growing in the nation with a 60 strong team and projections of 4x growth over the next 4 years.
We have been finalists in this category for 3 years in a row now which is testament to how consistency brilliant our team have been in recent times and with big plans for the future we hope this won’t be the last time we get a mention here!
Well done to fellow finalists Contego Environmental and congratulations to winners Vergo Pest Control who have had a record-breaking year themselves.
Being shortlisted for any award is always a nice surprise, but if we had to choose one category to be recognised in, commitment to training would almost certainly be the one.
Our graduate training scheme has been one of our biggest success stories in recent years with many of today’s most impressive young pest controllers joining us through the programme that combines classroom training with on the job real world experience.
This nomination makes it 4 years in a row that pest Solutions have been a finalist in this category, something we are pretty chuffed with as we believe training for excellence is the core to our culture and success.
It’s not just the newbies who have shown excellent persistence and commitment to learning either, and many of our staff who have been in the pest industry for decades have topped the BPCA CPD points charts in recent times.
Gemma Sutherland winning the “2024 BPCA Commitment To CPD” award is a great example of the reward available to those who dedicate themselves to training, but being able to provide our clients with the very highest standard of service is all the rewards our team need.
We are constantly striving to improve our training programmes and contribute to the BPCA’s efforts to standardise and elevate training across the pest industry and pledge to continue building on the platform we have built so far.
We believe that training is the foundation of a better and more sustainable future for the pest control industry and are the first to congratulate any pest control business who invests in the development of its people.
With that in mind, congratulations to Ecolab on winning the 2024 “BPCA Commitment To Training” Award and to fellow finalists John O’Connor, Ro kill, and Safeguard Pest Control.
Let’s all keep leading the way in training the people that will be the future of our industry.
