2022 BPCA Member Award Success. The 2nd ever BPCA Member Awards were held on 8 April 2022 at the annual BPCA AGM.
2022 BPCA Member Award Success. At Pest Solutions, we were delighted to be announced as a finalist for the BPCA Commitment to Training Award and the BPCA Growth and Innovation Awards, as well as to several of our fantastic team members to be up for individual awards.
We were extremely proud to see technician Kevin Pugh win the BPCA Outstanding CBD award, a well-deserved reward for another year of outstanding commitment to training from Kevin, and Financial Director Hayley Rafferty for receiving a highly commended in the BPCA Spotlight Award.
With over 700 pest control companies now a part of the British Pest Control Association (BPCA), competition was incredibly high at these awards and it is testament to the incredibly hard work that all our staff have put in that our team has been so successful here over the past two years.
Whilst we are delighted to see Kevin and Hayley receive rewards, we can’t say we are surprised as both have been outstanding in their respective roles for some time now.
Kevin is one of our most respected and talented service technicians with an attitude and work ethic admired by colleagues and customers alike and has acquired an exceptional amount of CPD points over the past few years.
Keeping our admin and finance department running smoothly behind the scenes, Hayley’s commitment to Pest Solutions is second to none and the tremendous growth that we have achieved over the past couple of years just wouldn’t have been possible without her.
We were absolutely delighted to see Pest Solutions technician Kevin Pugh rewarded for this outstanding dedication to continued learning as a winner of the BPCA Outstanding CPD award.
2022 BPCA Member Award Success. The award, designed to acknowledge those who have built up an outstanding portfolio of CPD activities over the year and have highlighted the importance of gaining CPD points.
Having been nominated and highly commended in the same award category in 2021 after achieving an impressive 128 CPD points in 2020, it would have been easy for Kevin to take his foot off the gas, but this just isn’t in his make up.
Instead, Kevin exceeded his own very high standards and gained 162 CPD points in 2021, an incredible performance that rightly saw him win the award this time around.
In the 3 years that Kevin has been with us since joining as a trainee pest control technician in November 2019, at the age of 39, Kevin has gone from strength to strength, impressing us all with his fantastic work ethic, ultra-professionalism, and commitment to learning.
His incredibly positive attitude and willingness to support and assist his colleagues whenever he can has made Kevin an extremely popular member of our team and has proved a huge hit with our customers.
It is no surprise to us that Kevin’s dedication to his craft has earned him plenty of external plaudits and this latest success follows his winning of the “Technician of the Year” award at the 2021 UK National Pest Awards.
Since his win at the awards, Kevin hasn’t slowed down in the slightest and recently achieved his Level 3 Certificated Advanced Technician Qualification, an award held by just 15% of the pest control industry.
Of the thousands of BPCA registered people in the industry who are required to carry out CPD training, there were several who stood out to the BPCA committee for their outstanding performance and the decision was made to announce four winners for this particular award.
Alongside Pest Solution’s very own Kevin Pugh the winners of the BPCA Outstanding CPD award were:
– Michelle Pope – M P Environmental
– Niall Gallagher – Rokill Limited
– Ben Sartain – Precision Pest Management
– Kevin Pugh – Pest Solutions
Congratulations to all these winners, this standard of commitment to training and continued learning is highly commendable and was rightly recognised by the Awards committee.
As a BPCA member who are committed to promoting professionalism and best practice throughout the pest control industry, we we’re pleased to see the high standard of CPD performance from all finalists rewarded.
The BPCA Spotlight Awards is designed to reward those who do fantastic work behind the scenes in the pest control industry.
Anyone who has worked at Pest Solutions, or has come into contact with our company, will agree that no-one fits this description better than our own Hayley Raffety and we were delighted that her hard work was recognised by being highly commended for this award.
Hayley, who is our Finance Director, has done some incredible work streamlining our systems since joining as a trainee accounts administrator in 2015.
It is testament to her that we are able to provide full admin and financial support to a team of over 42 people with an admin team of just 2 people.
Hayley’s commitment has been second to none since joining our team taking open university courses to secure her accountancy qualifications.
The work that Hayley does is even more impressive when you take into account the fact that her admin team also acts as the admin and finance department for two other businesses of a similar size.
Hayley’s work has always been highly appreciated by the management here at Pest Solutions, but it wasn’t until we had to run the business without her in 2019 when she was away on maternity team for a year to start a family that we realised just how integral she was to the team.
Since returning, Hayley has continued to be an integral part of growing the company and has helped us to double in size in the last 18 months.
In October 2021, Hayley became Financial Director, a promotion that was fully deserved and made perfect business sense.
So much of our success can be attributed directly to the hard work Hayley has done and continues to do every single day.
Hayley has more than earned all the plaudits that come her way and being highly commended for the Spotlight Award is another feather to add to a rather impressive cap.
We would like to congratulate The London Network for Pest Solutions Admin Team for winning the award and David Burgess from Dealey Pest Control for receiving a highly commended award alongside Hayley.
We know just how much goes into running a pest control business from behind the scenes and all pest controllers need a great support team and are glad to see individuals from across the industry rewarded for their contributions.
Of all the awards given out to pest control companies at the BPCA member awards, the Commitment to Training award is the one with which we feel the greatest affiliation.
Having won the award in 2021, it was an honour to once again be nominated in the category this time around.
At Pest Solutions, we believe that investing in our people is key to success, and are determined to put our staff in the best possible position to deliver outstanding services to our customers each and every day.
Training is a crucial part of this, giving our Pest Control team the ammunition they need to deal with pest problems of all kinds and help to protect public health in a highly effective and sustainable manner.
We are fully committed to the BPCA’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme which requires members to undertake continued training in order to expand and improve their skills, knowledge, and overall competence.
This is only a small part of the training and qualifications that we provide for our staff and helps to ensure that we are fully up-to-date on the latest research on best practice, health and safety, and any changes to legislation concerning products or techniques.
Each activity that results in CPD points being awarded is focussed on developing the member’s professionalism and providing a safer and more effective service for customers.
It is not just our service team that is put through this training either. Our office and sales team are also provided with a wide variety of pest related training opportunities to ensure company wide expertise.
The impressive number of CPD points that our staff have acquired over the past few years is credit to their, and the company’s dedication to training, with Kevin Pugh’s outstanding efforts being rewarded with the BPCA Outstanding CPD Award.
Several of our technicians, Natasha Mackay, Kevin Pugh, Gemma Sutherland, Chloe Smith and William Trivet, also achieved their Level 3 Certificated Advanced Technician qualifications this year, an accreditation that demonstrates extensive pest knowledge, identification, and management skills.
This certification is held by just 15% of the industry, demonstrating that we encourage all our staff to go above and beyond in terms of training and learning opportunities.
Although we didn’t win the award this time around, we take being a finalist in this prestigious award as a sign that we are on the right track and will continue to promote training opportunities to our staff to help them better themselves and the business as a whole.
Congratulations to Nightshift Pest Control for winning the award as well as to our fellow finalists John O’Connor Pest Control and Safeguard Pest Control.
We were also proud to be named as finalists in the Business Growth and Innovation Award.
With the business doubling in size over the last 18 months, with 72% growth last year alone, we are currently on track to reach our goal of becoming the largest independent pest control company in Scotland next year.
This, combined with our focus on innovation within the pest control industry both in terms of technology and training for professionalism was enough to see us become a finalist in this category.
We are committed to continuing to strive for excellence in everything we do, whilst promoting sustainability and responsibility as core principles of our company.
Everyone at the company should be extremely proud of what we have achieved so far and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
Congratulations to NBC Environment for winning the BPCA Growth Award, and Thermo Insect Control Services for winning the BPCA Innovation award due to their development of mobile gentle targeted heat treatment systems.
Great achievements across the board.
