Since 2014, World Youth Skills Day has been celebrated on the 15th of July each year to highlight the importance of supporting skilled young people in their search for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship.
Here at Pest Solutions, we are proud to support our young people and graduate pest control technicians all year round but are delighted to work with Bayer to use this opportunity to attract fresh blood into this thriving and ever-changing industry.
I believe that it is our commitment to youth that has allowed us to grow so significantly over the past few years.
The enthusiasm, innovation, and expertise of our staff, new and old, has been reflected in the success of our pest management services and the satisfaction of our customers.
There are so many talented people just waiting to get their chance, and we want to be the business that give them it.
Several of our most successful recent additions have joined us via our graduate scheme and through the Kickstart scheme, a Government funded initiative that supports employers in giving jobs to 16-24 year olds on Universal Credit.

This year alone we have been delighted to see the success of many of our technicians who came to us through our graduate scheme.
Natasha Mackay, Gemma Sutherland, and William Trivet, all graduate scheme success stories, have all recently successfully acquired their Level 3 Certificated Advanced Technician awards from the BPCA, demonstrating their expertise and identification skills.
We were also extremely proud to see Gemma crowned as “Young Pest Controller of the Year” at the 2022 National Pest Awards, with Chloe Smith, another of our top graduate service technicians, finishing in the top 3.
The success of Gemma and Chloe is the latest in Pest Solutions ever increasing affiliation with this award, with another of our young pest controllers, Gabrielle Hogg, winning the award in 2021.
These awards are not only a well deserved recognition for the fantastic work that our young technicians do every single day in the field, but also a reflection that the ethos of investing in young talent that we have built our company on.
